For Feb dinner I thought we would do a little traveling.  Just a little so don’t worry about the gasoline prices.

Okay, so I know that most of my posts have been about the updates to the website.  Yet again I learned more about word press today.  I changed the URL so that they are friendly.  No more “?=105” to get to a post.  Now you want the history you go right to it.  Next on the list will be to get more on our home page.

Las Vegas Churches accept gambling chips

THIS MAY COME AS A SURPRISE TO THOSE OF YOU NOT LIVING IN
LAS VEGAS , BUT THERE ARE MORE CATHOLIC CHURCHES THAN CASINOS.

NOT SURPRISINGLY, SOME WORSHIPERS AT SUNDAY SERVICES WILL GIVE CASINO CHIPS

RATHER THAN CASH WHEN THE BASKET IS PASSED.

SINCE THEY GET CHIPS FROM MANY DIFFERENT CASINOS, THE CHURCHES HAVE DEVISED

A METHOD TO COLLECT THE OFFERINGS.

THE CHURCHES SEND ALL THEIR COLLECTED CHIPS TO A NEARBY FRANCISCAN MONASTERY FOR

SORTING AND THEN THE CHIPS ARE TAKEN TO THE CASINOS OF ORIGIN AND CASHED IN.

As I have spent some time doing research for the history page (Getting ready to do the same for the Home page and maybe add other pages) I have learned a lot about our family history.  One of the best things that I learned is that my Father’s side of the family (The Broecker’s Side) is really willing to share.  In fact, I really want to take some time and ask some of the uncles (I know there is a better name for them but sometimes when the family gets that spreed out it is easier to just stick with simply Aunt and Uncle) for things they remember.  Those family stories are truly one of the things I miss from before my father’s stroke.
